Neve Campbell

The Party Of Five star has shaken off the adolescent anguish of her TV and 'Scream' roles to join the company of such respected Hollywood players as Robert Altman and Sam Shepard.

Neve Adrianne Campbell was born in Canada to a Scottish father and a Dutch mother. Originally trained as a dancer, she made her stage debut in the Toronto production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Phantom of the Opera'.

The hit teen TV series 'Party of Five' was to provide Neve with her first big break and it wasn't too long before she caught the eye of movie casting directors. She starred in this drama until 2000 when she quit to concentrate on her movie career.

In 1995, Campbell married Canadian actor Jeff Colt but they divorced in 1998. Despite her first movie, 'The Dark', heading straight to video, the young star bounced back as a teenager dabbling in witchery, in 'The Craft' in 1996.

1996 saw Neve play the heroine in the post-modern box-office smash, 'Scream'. Directed by Wes Craven and scripted by Kevin Williamson, the film emulated the 'slasher' films of the early 1980s and spawned the inevitable sequel 'Scream 2', with Campbell's character now a college student.

She was hailed as Best Actress at the Saturn Awards for her work in 'Scream' and received both a Blockbuster Award and MTV Movie Award for Best Actress for the sequel.

Attempting to distance herself from the horror genre, her next role saw her starring opposite Matt Dillon in the edgy 'Wild Things' in 1998.

She also appeared in romantic comedy 'Three to Tango' alongside Matthew Perry in 1999. The following year she starred in 'Drowning Mona', 'Panic' and 'Scream 3', which grossed over $160 million. Campbell met her second husband, English actor John Light, while filming the 2002 film 'Investigating Sex'. They became engaged in 2005, marrying on 5 May 2007. Campbell filed for divorce in 2010. She is currently in a relationship with actor JJ Field, and they had their first child in August 2012.

She starred in a number of small films including 'Blind Horizon' in 2003, 'Churchill: The Hollywood Years' in 2004 and 'Relative Strangers' in 2005 before returning to TV in 2007 when she appeared in several episodes of 'Medium'. Campbell made her West End debut in Arthur Miller's 'Resurrection Blues' in 2006. In 2009, she starred in the TV show 'Philanthropist', a couple of episodes of 'Sea Wolf' and one episode of 'The Simpsons'.

On 1 April 2010, it was announced that Campbell would be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in 'Scream 4', which was released on 15 April 2011, grossing more than $97 million.

Despite respectable box office successes, Neve has yet to make a serious mark on Hollywood. However, with siblings Alex and Christian hot on her tail, you can rest assured that the Campbell acting dynasty is one to watch out for!
