The star of 'About A Boy' has grown into a handsome and highly sought-after actor.
Nicholas Caradoc Hoult was born on 7 December 1989 in Wokingham, Berkshire to pilot Roger Hoult and piano teacher Glenis. He is the third of four children and has two sisters and one brother.
He was first spotted at the age of three in the audience with his mother at a play by the director, who suggested he should try out for a role on stage.
Hoult attended Ranelagh School and made his acting debut in the 1996 film 'Intimate Relations' at the age of just seven. He went on to make several TV appearances in shows such as 'Silent Witness', 'Holby City' and 'Waking The Dead'.
In 2002, Hoult came to the attention of the film world thanks to his lead role in 'About A Boy' with Hugh Grant. Based on Nick Hornby's bestselling novel, it tells the story of an immature grown man who is taught how to act his age by a little boy.
After this endearing role, Hoult continued to feature in TV shows, with the most notable being 'Skins' in 2007 and 2008 as he played one of the lead characters at a Bristol sixth-form college Tony Stonem.
This role showed a different side to the actor, who was remembered as a cute and innocent boy. This channel four show featured sex, drugs and rock n roll. He earned a nomination for Walkers Home Grown Talent Award for this part.
His Hollywood career started at the age of 19 in 2009 when he featured in the award-winning film 'A Single Man' with Colin Firth and Julianne Moore. This was followed by a part in 'The Clash Of The Titans' in 2010. In the same year, he was nominated for the Bafta Rising Star Award, which is the only one voted for by the public. He also tried his hand at modelling by becoming the face of Tom Ford's Eyewear Spring 2010 collection.
Hoult portrayed Hank McCoy, known as the Beast, in 'X-Men: First Class' in 2011 and met US actress Jennifer Lawrence who was one of his co-stars. The pair started dating and are still going strong.
His next projects included 'Warm Bodies' and the lead in 'Jack The Giant Killer' in 2013. He will also appear in 'Mad Max: Fury Road' in the near future.
