We’re almost at the end of what’s been a fab year for fashion – and we’re already getting our imaginary Gucci knickers in a twist wondering what 2018 will bring. But before that happens let’s stop, turn, and look back at what 2017 gave us - from the the celeb outfits and runway shows, to the moments that made us go OMG.
Katy Perry went a bit Gaga
Katy Perry got tongues wagging at this year’s Met Gala with this weird and wonderful Maison Margiela creation, complete with matching headgear. Did she borrow it from Gaga?
Beyoncé had a golden Grammys
As with her dance routines, Queen B never puts a foot wrong when it comes to fashion. Her red sequined gown slayed hard at the Grammys this year, but she outdid herself that very same evening with this glittering, gold, goddess-like performance number.
Kim Kardashian West kept it simple
Kim always tries to steal the show, so imagine the fashion world’s surprise when she rolled up to the Met Gala in this white, understated, figure-hugging Vivienne Westwood dress. Were you feeling ok, Kim?
Executive produced by style icon Kim Kardashian West, Glam Masters is coming to Lifetime in 2018.
Fringes swung back into fashion
Sexy, swinging fringes were the embellishment of choice for a number of designers this year, including Michael Kors and Marchesa. It was a bit of a nod to the 70s, and we liked it.
Cara Delevingne went all sci-fi
Cara Delevingne channeled her inner cyborg with this silver ‘slinky’ looking Iris van Herpen dress. Of course, being the Hollywood premiere of Valerian, it fitted the occasion quite nicely.
Glamour wasn’t forgotten
Frocks fit for queens were out in force this year, with everyone from Christopher Kane to Emilia Wickstead using plenty of sparkle and shine in their A/W collections. Designers like Erdem and Jason Wu on the other hand focused on deliciously lux fabrics like gold velvet.
Cee Lo Green’s gilty faux pas
Cee Lo Green isn’t afraid of dressing snazzy, and this year the singer showed up to the Grammy’s trying to out-gold Beyoncé. Unfortunately he ended up looking like a Ferrero Rocher instead.
Nicki Minaj’s fashion boob
During Paris Fashion Week, Nicki Minaj thought she’d reel in the photographers with her own unique fashion statement – a bizarre new take on the nip slip. Well, we’re assuming it was intentional.
Things went technicolor
There was nothing bland about spring/summer or autumn/winter this year. Colour was in full force absolutely everywhere, from delicate pastels and bright clashing splashes, to luxurious rich hues – and the designers wielded them like wizards.
Marc Jacobs let the clothes do the talking
During September’s New York Fashion Week, Marc decided to show his new collection in complete silence, with no fancy lights or staging whatsoever. Fortunately the fabulous clothes did the talking – and they gave us some serious Priscilla Queen of the Desert vibes.
