10 Things You Might Not Know About Heidi Klum

Did you know all these facts about the German beauty and Project Runway host?

  1. She was born in 1973 in Bergisch-Gladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
  2. Before she started her modelling career, Heidi considered becoming a designer.
  3. Soon after moving to New York to pursue modeling, she began doing jobs for Victoria's Secret. In 1998, she secured the coveted spot on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
  4. As well as hosting Project Runway, Heidi has also fronted Germany's Next Topmodel since 2006. The show has so far aired 11 seasons.
  5. Heidi married the singer Seal in 2005. They had three children together – two sons and a daughter. During their marriage, the pair renewed their vows every year. They were also known for sporting elaborate costumes at their annual Halloween bash.
  6. Before her marriage to Seal, she was married to hairstylist Ric Pipino from 1997 until 2002. Pipino is the father of Heidi's oldest daughter Helene.
  7. Heidi and Seal separated in 2012. Their divorce was finalised in 2015.
  8. On top of hosting Project Runway, Heidi also serves as one of the show's executive producers, and helped to develop the show.
  9. In 2013 she won an Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program, which she shared with Tim Gunn. 
  10. In 2015 the live finale of Germany's Next Top Model was affected by a bomb threat. Around an hour in to the show, a woman called in reporting a bomb in the venue, causing the entire show to be cancelled and evacuated. Heidi and the other judges were taken to a safe location, and a pre-recorded finale was eventually broadcast in place of the live one.
