With all the London Fashion Week buzz lately, we’re even more excited than usual about the new series of Project Runway. It also got us thinking – what’s become of the winners so far? Let’s take a peek at their stylish CVs…
Season 1: Jay McCarroll
Having shunned the prize pot because he didn’t want to pay 10% royalties on his collection, Jay McCarroll moved to NYC to make it on his own. After back surgery and a slimming stint on Celebrity Fit Club however, he relocated to Philadelphia. There he teaches at the Philadelphia University, and still creates collections which he sells locally.
Season 2: Chloe Dao
Vietnamese-born Chloe Dao didn’t fancy a slice of the Big Apple after her win (she’d been there and done it), so chose to remain in Houston with the mission of making it more fashionable instead. Since winning, she’s sold her girly garments on QVC as well as in her own boutique, and recently designed a 21st birthday gown for Shaquille O’Neill’s daughter Taahirah.
Season 3: Jeffrey Sebelia
Known for his rock star-style designs, Jeffrey Sebelia has done pretty well for himself, despite being something of a Project Runway villain. He’s dressed a who’s who of stars, including JLo, Marilyn Manson, and Elton John. He now runs an edgy children’s brand called La Miniatura, as well as a new L.A.-based label called SCL_MDIA with Kirk Nelson.
Season 4: Christian Siriano
Christian Siriano is probably the most successful winner in Project Runway history. Whether adorning Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift or pretty much every actress in Hollywood, his clothes are no stranger to the red carpet. With his own store and a net worth of millions, business continues to boom for our Christian – and we’re very proud of him.
Season 5: Leanne Marshall
Leanne Marshall’s floaty feminine dresses were like something from a dream, and she’s still creating gorgeous garments today. After scooping her prize money and designing an eco-friendly collection for Bluefly, she moved to New York to focus on her bridal and RTW collections. She now has a showroom in the city, and her bridal collection is stocked throughout the United States.
Season 6: Irina Shabayeva
While her at times salty demeanor ruffled a few feathers, that didn’t stop “Meana Irina” from winning season 6. Since then she’s designed garments for Carrie Underwood and Selena Gomez, and continues to show her work in New York. Many of her current designs, including custom pieces, can be purchased from her Etsy store.
Season 7: Seth Aaron Henderson
Seth was the first contestant to win both Project Runway and the All Stars show, and with his unique, new wave, punk, and goth-inspired garms it’s little wonder. Since winning he’s gone onto sell a line on QVC, has created another using a sustainable materials, and helped cast future seasons of Project Runway.
Remember this is just part one, which of the last seven winners is your favourite?
